Today, the 25th of June 2022, marks the 30th Anniversary of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
BSEC was founded in 1992 with the objective of promoting regional economic cooperation among the Member States in a spirit of good neighborly relations to serve the interest of peace, stability and prosperity in the wider Black Sea area. Its mission continues to be to serve as a constructive platform for cooperation, bringing countries of different cultural and historical backgrounds together through mutually beneficial economic engagement to bridge differences and unite them around a common vision for the future of our region.
While we had initially every expectation to celebrate this Day and Anniversary under very different circumstances, we regret having to acknowledge this important milestone in the life of our Organization against the backdrop of the tragic turn of events in our region.
On this BSEC Day, we reiterate our hope that dialogue and wisdom will prevail so that a solution in full compliance with international law will be found without further delay to return to an environment conducive to constructive economic engagement for the benefit of all Member States and the region as a whole.
May peace be restored in the once tranquil waters of the Black Sea!
